Just a book...

So I now have a collection of things to post because I've been very quiet for a while.

The first is the book I designed. It's not officially published but this is it made up with my cover. Inside are blank pages ready for me to fill with sketches. The brief was to design a book cover for a thriller / horror story that looked official. The cover had to feature an etching that we had done of a graveyard. Our name was what had to be used as the author and the reut was up to us with how realistic we made it look..

Very proud of this.

A leopard never changes it's spots.

So I recently did a six hour practical for my drawing exam. I had drawn in pen before but only doodles. I had never attempted a whole drawing (shading included), I usually just stuck to my usual medium of pencil.. It was safe because I knew what I was doing. But for this I thought I should step out of my comfort zone and give it my all. I am actually so proud of how it tuned out and really shocked that I can draw just as well with pen as I can with pencil! Super stoked. So I guess a leopard can change its spots.. or at least a habit. Go out and try something new! You never know what will come of it.

Skateboard design

This was a design I did for a skateboard deck.

It is based on the country of Fiji. I decided to include their beautiful coral gardens with their many endemic animals, with a touch of culture and history. The top of the deck I carved away at the wood and then burnt into it to create the Tiki torch patterning. On the bottom I painted the scene.

It was a lot of work but I was so pleased and proud of how it turned out. Especially because it's a complete original design. Never thought that I would be able to accomplish this at this point in my life.
